The Faculty

AMU Faculty of Modern Languages and Literatures has been in existence for more than 30 years, continuing the tradition of the former Faculty of Philology, which included most of the institutes and departments that currently make up the Faculty. The Faculty’s staff conduct research on language and literature under numerous projects. They collaborate on a large scale with many other institutions in Poland and abroad.

The Faculty offers 40 different bachelor’s and master’s degree courses, and also runs postgraduate and doctoral studies. Our students take advantage of a very wide range of available scholarship and foreign study programmes. The Faculty is also engaged in cultural activities and the popularization o Among our staff are well-known translators, writers, journalists and artists. We are always ready to cooperate with other organizations: schools, cultural and educational institutions, business, administration, and voluntary organizations.

The Faculty in figures

We employ more than 420 full-time teaching and research staff. Every year they publish a total of around 500 scholarly articles, books, etc.

We have almost 4500 students on full-time courses, more than 600 on part-time courses, and about 30 on special postgraduate courses.

We offer 40 different courses of study.

We have almost 50 full-time and part-time doctoral students, who already contribute to the Faculty’s research potential.

Our staff include teachers of several dozen languages and many experienced translators.
